Gender-Oriented Budgeting: Practice and Mechanisms of Implementation in the Republic of Kazakhstan (by the Example of South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl regions)

Abstract

In recent years, numerous budget initiatives carried out for supporting the goals set out in the social sphere. However, it is the gender budgeting, that has become very popular and widely used strategy in many countries.The article explains expediency of the gender approach implementation in the planning of the budget of Republic of Kazakhstan. Gender budgeting is an essential tool to overcome gender inequalities, that is the key to sustainable economic growth and human capital development. On the example of exploring the South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl regions, the author identifies priorities to ensure successful implementation of gender mainstreaming in Kazakhstan conditions.
