The negative and positive aspects of urbanization in Kazakhstan are considered. The low manageability of urbanization processes is indicated. Taking this into account, recommendations are made to improve the controllability of urbanization processes, in particular in the use of information networks, which should provide data on the availability and types of jobs in the city and in the countryside, improve social interaction and information exchange between urban and rural residents, which can lead to more effective decision-making regarding migration. The main directions of state management of the urbanization process are formulated.
