The place and role of Kazakhstan in the European Union Strategy on the relationship between Europe and Asia

Abstract

On September 19, 2018, the European Commission published a Joint Communication, which outlines the elements of the new EU strategy to improve connectivity between Europe and Asia. Although the Republic of Kazakhstan itself is not directly mentioned in this document, it seems that our country can play a significant role in its successful implementation, especially taking into account the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, proposed at the ASEM Summit on October 18-19, 2018.
The purpose of this article is to analyze the elements of the Connectivity Strategy between Europe and Asia issued by the European Union, as well as to assess the possibilities of Kazakhstan in the context of its upcoming implementation.
Due to its novelty, this topic has not yet received coverage in scientific research. In this regard, in this article the author will review the parameters of the future interaction and the possible role of Kazakhstan in these processes.
