Mentality impact on managerial decision-making process in public authorities

Abstract

The article presents public administration sphere as a form of mentality manifestation among civil servants. It also analyses recent studies of Ukrainian mentality specific nature. The paper deals with mindset concept as a human willingness to make decisions according to his/her internal psychological attitudes. The influence of the “eastern” and “western” mentality type on the decision-making process is shown. It is found that Ukrainians having “eastern” mentality type often make intuitive decisions. The article displays mental nature domination while making managerial decisions under uncertainty. The article describes “Ukrainian management model” and mental characteristics of managerial decision- making process conducted by heads of public authorities. The article defines common uses of mentality theory provisions while elaborating managerial decisions in public authorities of Ukraine.
