Comprehensive approach to modern urban management

The article provides a rationale for a comprehensive approach to modern urban management. It defines the essence of a city as a socio-economic formation and emphasizes its importance for the development of modern society. Eight key models of urban development are provided, the need for their combined use for the successful and sustainable development of a modern city is stressed. The article includes a detailed analysis of the National Report of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development prepared by the Committee for Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the participation of central and local executive bodies. The structure of the most important spheres of city management is determined based on the analysis of the identified problems.
