Abstract

This article addresses the issue of gender inequality in the distribution of household duties in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The analysis is based on data from time-use surveys conducted between 2015 and 2021. The article explores the factors that influence the extent of inequality in the division of household tasks between men and women, including employment, presence of children, age, education level, and income. The study reveals that women continue to spend significantly more time on household chores despite their participation in paid labor. Special attention is given to the "double burden" on women, particularly in families with children. The article provides recommendations for reducing gender inequality, including the development of public and educational initiatives, support for flexible work conditions, and family support programs.
