This article examines the role of women in shaping the identity of the Kazakh community. The purpose of the work is to study the place of women through three thematic groups: the formation of children’s worldview, education and the transmission of cultural code. This problem is becoming relevant due to the increasing proportion of children and youth in the demographic structure and the high level of polyiethnicity of the population of Kazakhstan. Narrative interviews and participant observation were used as the main research methods. Based on the results of the study, it turned out that women’s self-development opportunities have a direct impact on the formation of civic and ethnic identities among young people. However, ethnic groups often differ in the level of self-fulfillment that is available to women in those communities. The results of the study showed that there is a need to study the social portrait of women of various ethnic groups, as well as to strengthen their civic identity.
